When it's hot in summer it's
only a very short drive to places like this. Could you think
of anywhere better to cool off? Photograph by Gavin Hansford.

you will have the beach to yourself. Photograph courtesy

The Great Ocean Road begins
at Torquay, passes through Lorne and continues on past the

Lorne's new wharf is a great
spot for fishing. Even if you don't fish you can have a leisurely
stroll to see what's biting. Photograph by Rob Blackburn.
There are a number of waterfalls
not far from Lorne. When in Lorne be sure you take the time
to visit Erskine Falls. It's well worth the trip. Photograph

There are not many places along
the Great Ocean Road which allow for rowing. The often calm
waters of Lorne enable lots of different water activities.

for an evening stroll. Photograph by Andrew Paoli.
Lorne's Loutit Bay is one of
the safest beaches along the entire Great Ocean Road. Great
for swimming and also a very good location to learn to surf.
Just ask at some of the surf shops along the beach road.

full of surprises. The architectural landscape created by
beautiful eucalypts can be quite outstanding. Photograph

Lorne's Erskine River is beautiful;
especially where it runs into the sea. Architecturally, the
old footbridge is of significant, historical importance.
